Honorary Fellowship

For her work in developing microbiology as a field and discipline, Professor Dame Anne Glover was awarded the 2021 AMI Fellowship.

Her co-discovery of CRISPR-Cas9 genetic engineering technology, with collaborator, French scientist Emmanuelle Charpentier, has changed human and agricultural genomics research forever.

Dame Sally’s efforts to place the UK at the forefront of the fight against antibiotic resistant bacteria have been second to none, influencing government policy, helping to commission the O’Neill report and championing antibiotic stewardship.

Sir David Attenborough is the United Kingdom’s best-loved naturalist and natural history broadcaster.

The Fellowship was in recognition of his passion for finding a solution to the global challenge of AMR and the continuing impact of the O’Neill Review.
